Ice Bird Feeder

Birdseed is placed into decorative ice trays and combined with water and frozen to make a winter inspired bird feeder with my very educated mother.

Ice Wreath

Cranberries and water and placed into a bunt pan and set outside to freeze.  Next it's strung up with a thick red bow and tied to a tree.  Craftown shares the details.

Ice Lanterns

Empty cans are filled with water and left outside just until the bottom and sides freeze to make nifty ice lanterns with kix cereal.  Next, they wait for nighttime and place a glow stick underneath for a beautiful winter luminary.

Ice Sculptures

Start by adding water and food coloring to various shaped tins such a muffin, donut, hearts or whatever you have and freeze them either in the freezer or just place them outside.

One Chilly Playdate

Ice Skating Boats

One fun task for a hot summer day is to make ice boats.  Using a cupcake liner, ice cube, tooth pick and plastic paper.  Freeze water in ice cube trays to make the boat but place a tooth pick in the center so that you'll have a mast for the plastic sails, then place them in cupcake wrappers and slide across a sensory box of frozen ice.  Kids will have fun as the boats float upon the ice.  Take it outside and as it melts they can see if the boats start to sink or float.

Alpha mom uses a cup to free the water to make her boat and uses a bendy straw for the mast.  She adds a paper sail.  For her version she floats them in a big bowl of water.

Learning 4 kids colors her ice and uses huge containers to make super big boats.

Super Hero Ice Rescue Game

Green jello has a fun idea as part of her Batman birthday party.  She freezes superhero figures in large blocks of ice and gives each kid a water gun to set them free.
