Bubble Wrap Sight Word Game

Another great way to add some fun to sight reading practice.  Write the words on bubble wrap and when they get it right they get to pop the bubble.  You could also try and have them write the words themselves on the bubble wrap depending their abilities.

Good for ages 5 and up.

Found on Pinterest but with a broken link to the original source.

Star light star bright first star I read tonight

One super cute and fun way to practice sight words is to place them on the ceiling and then use a flashlight to find different words in the dark.  Thanks to first grade wow for this fantastic idea.  It's part of her camping unit.  You could even make up stories with the words you find.

Good for ages 6 and up.

Cut Up Poetry

One fun way to have kids just learning how to read is to take magazines and cut up some of the more simple sight words and then turn them into poems.  Have the kids go through old magazines and cut out the words they can read.  Then have them work on their skills further by putting the words together to make poems that are either non-sense or fun-sense.
